The memory of weaving, reinterpreted for outdoor living
Nida is the new dining chair designed by Chiara Andreatti for Ethimo. A project inspired by the idea of reinterpreting the simplicity and character of traditional woven chairs through a contemporary lens.
The die-cast aluminium frame creates a slender, lightweight silhouette with soft lines and a semi- circular backrest that forms a cozy curve. The sleek, enveloping armrest follows the line of the chair naturally, resulting in a seat that is both elegant and comfortable.
Nida is defined by its sophisticated rope weave, which connects the backrest and the seat. On the backrest, the weave remains open and airy, creating a delicate interplay of solids and voids. On the seat, by contrast, the weave becomes denser and more compact, recalling the solidity and familiarity of traditional rush chairs designed for everyday use and convivial moments.
Nida combines durability, lightness and comfort in a discreet seat that recalls the heritage of craftsmanship while translating it into an essential form using high-performance materials suited to outdoor living. Perfect for residential and hospitality settings, Nida becomes a versatile piece with understated charm that pairs naturally with tables of any style and size.
“Nida is a bridge between past and present: understated and poetic, lightweight and grounded, quietly expressing the beauty of craftsmanship reinterpreted through a contemporary lens.” Chiara Andreatti.
Coppe, the reworking of an archetype
Ethimo presents the new vases designed by Studiopepe
After the Bulbi and Innesti collections, Ethimo and Studiopepe continue their creative dialogue with Coppe, a new series of vases that interprets the primary archetype of the container in a pure, minimal synthesis of form.
The collection comprises two pieces in different sizes that share the same soft, seamless design. Free from joins, the body, base, and inner cavity create round volumes and measured proportions. The unique, simple, precise shape draws strength from its flowing lines.
Coppe vases express solidity and visual lightness.
Their concrete surface reveals a texture that tells of craftsmanship and lends unique character to each piece. Tiny variations, slight imperfections and details that are never identical make each vase “special”, highlighting the value of hand-made production. The colour palette accompanies the material with soft, warm hues inspired by earthy shades.
Designed to fit naturally into gardens, terraces, or verandas, Coppe are objects destined to last in time without losing any of their rhetoric. They can be used individually, discreet yet recognisable presences, or dialogue with one another in a harmonious arrangement of flowers and plants, the ideal equilibrium of decoration and function.
With this new range of vases, Ethimo and Studiopepe rework the ancient gesture of containing and turn it into a contemporary detail that welcomes nature.
