The amazing minimalist style of Petites Lentilles 16.04.2020
Sometimes the communicative power, the visual impact and the functionality of an object lies in the combination of a few selected structural elements, as in the case of Petites Lentilles, the pendant lamp by Catellani & Smith that is a fine example of a harmonious balance between light and matter. A suspended oval made of natural brass – measuring 120 x 60 cm – traces a large orbit in space, while small transparent lenses, embedded in supports made of brass as well, illuminate and decorate its form, following its lines.
The structure comprises a ceiling base equipped with thinnest cables that support the oval ring, as if it were ‘floating’ in the air. Less is more… with its minimalist style, Petites Lentilles demonstrates how the simplicity of a design made of only a few elements can create such an amazing object, a pendant lamp that is suitable both for the living spaces of private residences and contract projects, a lighting object that is able to customize a room with refined elegance.
