Elena Salmistraro for MY home collection, with Lok and Belte 10.10.2017
On one side, there’s MY home collection, an Italian interior design brand distinguished by an evident international approach, and which boasts a singular freshness and the identity of young companies featuring a European imprinting. On the other, there’s Elena Salmistraro, a young designer and artist whose style sits on the fence between design and illustration. Her approach, which is decorative and evocative, is packed with details, geometrical and optical patterns. Their partnership has given rise to Lok and Belte, a coffee table and an ottoman that appear to be simple yet feature geometrical volumes, rich in details that draw their inspiration from the women’s fashion world. Indeed, both are enveloped by a metallic belt which emphasises their roundness and gives them a bright personality, capable of distinguishing their surroundings, wherever they are placed.
The Lok coffee table has a diameter of 90 cm and is 40 cm high. The metallic belt, in this case, is an integral part of the frame, and it supports the top while lending the whole assembly extra light weight, in a curious game of blocks and voids. The Belte ottoman has a diameter of 80 cm and is 43 cm high, the belt solely plays a decorative role, giving the product luminosity, uniqueness and elegance. Thanks to a small not visible wooden base, the ottoman appears as if suspended over the ground, making a truly surprising optical effect. Both products can be configured in multiple colour variants which draw their inspiration either from Scandinavian design and from European design. They are available customised fabrics and finishes. Graphic appeal and illustration, fashion and design, volumes consisting of blocks and voids play together in a dynamic alternating pace in the evocative Lok and Belte.
All that is left to do is pick a colour…
