Cattelan Italia presents its new free-standing bookcase
Address, the new free-standing bookcase by Cattelan Italia (design Paolo Cattelan), features a tree-style configuration that develops 360 degrees around a vertical axis. Designed as a dynamic, modular system, Address offers extreme compositional freedom and a high degree of customization, adapting naturally to any design requirement.
Conceived to define and narrate space, its essence is revealed during the design phase: each shelf can be positioned freely along the central pillar, allowing for the height, rotation, and orientation of every individual surface to be chosen. This system introduces depth and movement to a project. With its ceiling mount and circular shelves, Address can be installed along a wall or serve as a centre-room feature, capable of defining zones and suggesting new pathways within a home or office environment.
By combining multiple modules, one can create symmetrical compositions or spiral patterns, or explore more dynamic configurations where the shelf arrangement generates a visual balance of apparent randomness. In open-plan spaces, the new free-standing bookcase becomes a light partition that separates without enclosing. Even a single element, positioned away from the wall, transforms Address into a sculptural work capable of engaging in a dialogue with its surroundings.
Each shelf is composed of round trays in prized wood, suspended at various heights along the vertical axis, with lower edges that are roundedwith an elegant curvature that tapers towards the outside.
The modularity of Address accommodates walls of any dimension. Its simple, rounded forms make it a contemporary furnishing element that is both practical and functional.
With this new free-standing bookcase, Cattelan Italia introduces a storage solution that reflects a new way of interpreting contemporary living.
