Abimis in the heart of the Dolomites 09.02.2023

The Ego kitchen is the main feature of a private residence in Cortina d’Ampezzo

A charming mountain house, located in the spectacular Dolomiti Superski ski area, houses an elegant island version of the Ego kitchen, built to measure in terms of size and accessories, and with customized materials to respond to the desire of the owners – a couple from Treviso who chose to transform this holiday home into their main residence – to have a professional kitchen but which can also reflect the ‘spirit’ of the broader interior design.

The house, completely renovated to ensure maximum comfort and functionality in modern terms every day, expresses the typical charm of a chalet, preserving its traditional features and suggesting a warm, welcoming and inviting atmosphere especially thanks to the evocative power of wood, which not only covers all the surfaces, but also forms many of the furniture and fittings chosen to furnish it.

But, in addition, there is an element with a strongly contemporary spirit that ‘plays down’ the Alpine identity of the house by creating an unexpected spectacular effect: the Ego kitchen by Abimis, entirely made of AISI 304 stainless steel, in a hand-orbital polished finish.

Thanks to its island style design and unusual finish, which gives it a warmer appearance than ‘traditional’ steel, Ego stands as a strongly characterizing element of the space that houses it.

The flush-mounted doors integrated into the structure with invisible hinges, ergonomic brass handles that reflect the tones of the wood, and a recessed skirting board for easy access to the entire depth of the cooking, washing and working areas are the features that have made Ego the ideal professional solution to complete the kitchen and dining environment. The integrated top made of Vals stone makes it special with details and veins that give rise to a surface whose textures and reflections are always different and thus able to give the kitchen a unique and evocative appearance, while ensuring maximum strength and durability of the top itself. The choice of the top is mainly linked to the owners’ desire to emphasize the house’s connection with the Alpine landscape: the green shades of the stone, which are harmoniously close to the wooden walls, recall the green that can be admired from the windows surrounding the house.

This configuration of Ego also sees the insertion of a storage compartment – again made of stainless steel, but with a polished mirror finish – which also acts as a crockery and knife holder, made to measure so that it can be placed with absolute discretion between the kitchen and the wall, suspended from the ground and below the top to preserve the aesthetic cleanliness of the kitchen.
