The vision of Stefano Bombardieri and Carpet Edition moves “beyond” 02.05.2023

Stefano Bombardieri’s elephant crosses the border of the artistic savanah and comes to the Salone del Mobile 2023 in Milano. Its advent is really in maximus, not only style but also custom- made. Another homage to Brescia, which is the Italian Culture Capital for 2023 together with Bergamo. This time proposed by Carpet Edition and Bombardieri, both from Brescia, who saw in the artistic discipline the possibilities around, strictly Made in Italy rug production.

In the know-how of Carpet Edition, art continues its storytelling into new knowledge and interchange. A realm able to convert the three-dimensional vision of sculpture into an object which is two dimensional by nature: the rug. It is here that Stefano Bombardieri’s elephants, in the meeting of two silhouettes, contrasting and partly overlapping, manage to create an abstract geometry. the warp and weft, regardless of their precise execution leave only a hint of the presence of this iconic animal.

The monumental aspect of Bombardieri’s works is constant, just as the balance is between the perception of present time and the irony exercised on it.

The variety of tools used by the artist for the realization of his sculptures culminates in Elephas Maximus through the weave of New Zealand wool and Tencel. This time in a two-dimensional form, but always upended: the loss of immediacy leaves room for imagination which you find in the new Carpet Edition creations.

An invitation to go beyond the perception of reality and overcome our perceived schemes by applying a good dose of irony.
A know-how, that of Carpet Edition, which meets the artistic thought of Stefano Bombardieri and which can make everyone feel a bit like “Marta and the Elephant” – a reference to a large installation in Capri, also by Bombardieri: we are in front of seemingly impossible things that can actually happen.

An homage, not only to creativity, but also to the strength and simplicity of the fragility of humans and animals. Almost like a good wish, a lucky charm, Elephas Maximus is a limited production series, just as a work of art.
