The welcoming mood created by Catellani & Smith lights for Casa dei Gatti 11.12.2020

The Casa dei Gatti is located in Seccheto, the attractive tourist destination that lies on the western coast of the beautiful Island of Elba, just a few steps from its most beautiful beaches of grainy sand and crystal clear water.
This house was abandoned for several years and had become a refuge for a small group of stray cats, after which the photographer and interior designer Adriano Bacchella decided to name the renovated house. The Casa dei Gatti stands out for the use of natural, local materials, such as the Elban granite, which has been used for the entire building to create a cosy and rustic atmosphere, typical of the Mediterranean style. Granite is combined with wood, which has been used, featuring an almost untreated visual aspect, both for many pieces of furniture and for structural components; concrete floors, handcrafted ceramics and decorative details have been chosen with care and competence. An assortment of highly decorative lighting creations from Catellani & Smith has been installed both in the rooms and in the beautiful terrace of this picturesque house, to enhance the atmosphere and unify the different components of the renovation project.

Entering the home, the space opens into a cosy and welcoming living area, which houses a mezzanine with a sleeping area, thanks to the considerable height of its ceiling. In the living room, a custom-made PostKrisi Chandelier descends from a white wood-beamed ceiling with its jagged and irregular spheres, made of natural fiberglass and in two different diameters of 20 and 14 cm. A Light Stick CW wall lamp in satin-gold finish, with 4 LEDs and in a length of 62 cm, fits into the cosy relaxing space. The kitchen is lit by two longer versions (88 and 115 cm) of the same model, here in nickel finish.
Two small Sweet Light T table lamps in brass have been set on a particular raw-wood coffee table. The table lamp CicloItalia T, which features its peculiar light and natural brass finish, has been placed on the cupboard that stores a beautiful ceramic set. The same CicloItalia T and an additional Sweet Light T, whose brightness can be adjusted by the simple touch of the hand thanks to its touch-dimming system, are housed in the master bedroom as well as in the sleeping area on the mezzanine.
Finally, the living room is decorated by Colonna, the lighting sculpture made of a waxed raw iron cylindrical structure that features a slit, covered in gold-coloured leaf.

In the bathroom, two EC 301, in white finish and brass details, have been installed to the wall, to provide light for a vanity top with two different washbasins.
As regards the outdoor area, two Fil de Fer decorate the terrace and match perfectly the seats and outdoor furniture. The lamps structure, a mass of shaped and woven aluminium wire, is dotted with tiny LEDs that are able to create a magical atmosphere, especially when the night falls and the sky is deep blue. Finally, many luminous More, with their transparent or amber coloured glass heads and metal stems, look like flowers that blossom among the bushes and plants which surround the house.
