Fil de Fer shines at City Life 19.02.2018
Catellani & Smith lamps light up one of Residenze Hadid’s penthouse flats
Milan’s City Life district is an expression of a city in continual growth.
The now famous Residenze designed by Zaha Hadid along Via Senofonte and facing onto prestigious Piazza Giulio Cesare and the district’s large city park are part of this architectural and cultural growth.
It is a sinuous architecture – which almost seems to move – made up of seven buildings at different heights which host 225 exclusive apartments including splendid penthouse flats with panoramic terraces overlooking the city.
It is precisely inside one of these penthouse flats – with décor by architect Niccolò Patetta – that Catellani & Smith’s Fil de Fer lamps shine out.
In a diverse height composition, Fil de Fer lights up the living space with a light waterfall creating a perfect equilibrium of décor elements and giving structure to the space. These lamps have always been unmistakeable emblems of Enzo Catellani’s creativity and a distinctive element for decades in its light-direction of residential and contract projects. The interwoven and artisan modelled aluminium wire gives Fil de Fer its one-of-a-kind sphere shape while its latest generation mini LED light bulbs animate and punctuate the structure as a whole. Precious, scenographic objects which fit perfectly into a contemporary light space like this extraordinary apartment covering a grand total of 300 square metres with breath-taking views over City Life’s skyscrapers.
Fil de Fer is more than a simple light concept. It is a full-blown lighting work of art of timeless appeal.
