There are projects in which the kitchen surpasses its original function to become the heart of the domestic space, around which the experience of living is built. This is the case of this London residence, created within a former building once used as stables.<\/p>\n
In this context, the Ego kitchen becomes the meeting point between two sensitivities: the Italian one of Abimis, which is rooted in the experience of professional kitchens, and the English one of architect Fiona Lawrenson – who curated the project – attentive to enhancing the authentic character of the existing architecture. The result is a bespoke creation, in which proportions, details and finishes construct a measured dialogue between tradition and contemporaneity. AISI 304 stainless steel becomes the distinctive feature of the project, in harmonious contrast with the warm tones of natural plaster, stone and wood. The continuous surfaces and sleek volumes lend the room a discreet elegance, where the rigour of the professionally-derived kitchen meets the comfort and atmosphere of the home. The orbitally polished by hand finish of the stainless steel delivers a surprising textured appeal: soft to the eye and almost silky to the touch, it captures and reflects the natural light of the setting. The brass handles add further chromatic accents, rendering the whole balanced and sophisticated.<\/p>\n

Ego is a completely bespoke solution, conceived to accompany everyday life and, when required, capable of offering professional performance levels such as to allow a chef the best possible preparation.<\/p>\n
The available space, deliberately compact, required a careful study of the layout. Every element was conceived to optimise activities and functions, whilst maintaining a tidy appearance. The peninsula configuration extends the operational surface and integrates the household appliances, creating a spontaneous connection with the dining room, so as to make service more straightforward during sociable occasions.<\/p>\n
The organisation of the elements follows a precise logic: one wall is dedicated to preparation and cooking, the other to washing, while the central module houses a generously sized worktop and the ovens. The large professional hood completes a \u2018system\u2019 designed to ensure superior performance without compromising domestic comfort.<\/p>\n
Customisation extends to every detail. A large-capacity oven, a teppanyaki grill, instant hot water taps and fixtures typical of professional kitchens coexist within a rigorous aesthetic, in which every function finds its place without altering the formal clarity of the whole.<\/p>\n
This ability to combine technical precision with ease of use represents one of the distinguishing aspects of Abimis.
