et al. opens a new chapter by appointing architect and designer Marco Acerbis — winner of the XVIII ADI “Compasso d’Oro” — as its new Artistic Director. Acerbis describes et al. as a “young historic company,” an apt paradox that perfectly captures the brand’s identity. Founded in 1956 as Metalmobil, et al. will celebrate 70 years of expertise in furniture and seating in 2026, maintaining its specialized focus on high-quality chairs and tables.

«Our ability to transform over time reflects our ambition to reach new horizons», says Francesca Tonti, CEO. “et al. has successfully reinvented its identity and name while maintaining the bold spirit of innovation that has always defined us».

This new artistic direction is set to strengthen the brand’s international presence through a more purposeful, identity-driven, and visionary approach to product design.

«In my vision, the product is the heart of Italian design», says Marco Acerbis. «Innovation happens within the product — not just in its aesthetic, but in its technical and functional excellence. This is where value, identity, and brand recognition are truly established».

These principles lay the groundwork for the next stage of our partnership: developing collections that go beyond fulfilling functional needs to inspire and forge authentic connections with those who experience them.

The brand name et al. is inspired by the Latin phrase meaning “and others”. Today this name represents a statement of purpose: et al. is both a creative vision and a structured ecosystem; it represents identity and openness; it is a brand of products but, above all, a brand of relationships. It is an inclusive community — a meeting point for hospitality professionals and everyone who experiences these spaces.
