Light and Material: new designs in the Cattelan Italia collection 10.07.2026

MATERA
The new set of coffee tables by Cattelan Italia
Design: Studio 28

A prominent trend in contemporary living room design is the move towards flexible compositions, whether positioned at the heart of the room or alongside the sofa. It is from this concept that Matera is born: a new set of matching coffee tables available in three distinct shapes and sizes.

With this solution, Cattelan Italia celebrates the freedom to modulate space, adapting the configuration to daily needs. Designed to connect various furnishing elements within the living area, the Matera system creates a sense of formal continuity throughout the room. The soft, organic lines allow the different elements to sit naturally side by side, generating a fluid surface where each module becomes a seamless extension of the next. The composition can evolve from a central coffee table to a side element next to the sofa, or even a functional companion for a reading nook.

The generous thickness of the top and the delicate curvature of the edges lend the individual coffee tables a tactile, natural appearance, reminiscent of the smooth shape of river pebbles. The name itself is a tribute to the evocative city of Matera and its stones shaped by time that tell a story of spontaneous balance between solid and void. In the same way, these new coffee tables by Cattelan Italia appear to arrange themselves in space like natural elements, coming together with fluidity to create ever-changing compositions where each form dialogues with the others in a visual continuum.

This solid yet visually light presence allows for furnishing without obstructing walkways: a low coffee table, placed beside the sofa or in the centre of the living room, becomes an element that completes the domestic landscape.

SAN MARCO
The new ceiling lamp designed by Cattelan Italia

In the visual language of Cattelan Italia, light is as fundamental to furniture design as it is to interior design. This concept lays the foundation for a complete, coherent, and entirely Made in Italy home. Within this vision comes San Marco, which strengthens the company’s lighting collection with a new ceiling lamp that combines stylistic research, design modularity, and artisanal tradition.

Within the company’s concept of complete living design, light follows an evolutionary path, where San Marco presents itself as a cohesive system conceived to enhance domestic spaces.
Its oval colored glass lampshades are available in kiwi and peach hues and resemble luminous shapes floating in space. This new blown glass lamp evokes, in its name, the traditional Venetian know-how that inspired its design. Beyond its dimensions and colors, San Marco also stands out for its glass craftsmanship: one version features a refined gradient that fades from a solid color into transparency, while the other reinterprets Rigadin, the traditional pattern of slim grooves typical of Murano glassmaking.

San Marco diffuses light through two light sources: the downward-facing one is practical and focused, while the one enclosed in the lampshade passes through the coloured glass, creating a soft, enveloping aura.
