Carpet Edition pays tribute to autumn with the new Foliage Collection. Design: Studio Romani Saccani Associated Architects 20.09.2021
Following the launch of the Summer carpet, Carpet Edition is proposing the second of four rugs which will make up the Foliage collection, designed by the architectural studio Romani Saccani Associated Architects. So, with the end of summer comes the arrival of the new rug Autumn, dedicated to the coming season.
“The woods are ablaze with warm tones and the scorched earth captures golden accents and traces of rust”.
This image of autumn inspired Michele Romani and Mauro Saccani in the selection of the color palette and the design of the shape of the Autumn rug, which originates, as does the entire collection, from the study of the botanical cataloging of leaves and their colors which slowly transform with the passing of the seasons.
Stylized contours, which evoke the shape of a typically continental vegetation, define the profile of the rug which is hand made out of New Zealand wool and characterized by a pleasant material effect. Just as on leaves, crossed by veins, a median line separates two different types of fleece: velvet on one side and bouclé on the other, which give the rug two equally different textures, one softer and the other more consistent. With this design, in addition to the colors, reference to the natural world is also suggested through the tactile experience which replicates that which one experiences when touching the smooth and rippled sides of leaves.
The colors, typical of autumn, are intense and enchanting: an elegant juxtaposition of warm red, brown, green and yellow tones, extraordinary because it evokes the feeling of walking on a real carpet of leaves in a park or in the woods.
Thus, Autumn becomes the protagonist of the fall season, as the second proposal of a collection designed to create precious tapestries, each one dedicated to a precise moment of the year. Nothing is left but to wait for the winter and spring to discover the rest of Foliage, magnificent rugs which interpret the colors and shapes of nature in a decorative way.
