Abimis for a residence in Palma de Mallorca 08.06.2020
Atelier plays the starring role in a kitchen packed with Mediterranean flavour
Designed by its owner in person, the architect from Madrid Jesús Colao, this stylish home is situated on the coast of the mesmerising capital of the island of Majorca. The structure and organisation of various rooms in the home stem from the idea of using this dwelling not just as a private residence, but also as a showroom. In other words, a workshop of ideas, packed with original objects and vintage-style furnishings and more still, which can be sources of inspiration for guests and their future creations.
The mood of each individual domestic space liaises with the surrounding landscape, creating a sense of continuity that conveys coolness and elegance.
The kitchen, which plays host to an island version of Atelier, built according to the architect’s specific requirements, is a warm, welcoming and carefree place, affording ultimate well-being. It is a generous and modern setting, which is expressed through various shades of white, thus making it extraordinarily bright.
Made entirely out of AISI 304 stainless steel, Atelier by Abimis is distinguished by squared doors which provide a clean-cut, tidy image of the kitchen, while the internal compartments – also in stainless steel – make for rapid cleaning as they provide less opportunity for dirt to build up.
Customised with integrated appliances and visible shelves, the island configuration entails multiple advantages. These permit visual and motional freedom, so as to organise all the everyday activities in the best possible way and make both cooking and sociability convenient: the worktop, which is hard-wearing and joint-free to guarantee the utmost practicality and maximum hygiene, in fact stretches out to create a practical snack counter.
Atelier turns this room with its unmistakable Mediterranean spirit into a versatile and sociable venue, offering more room to enjoy the kitchen beyond its mere functional aspect, with a view that allows it to liaise with the living room at all times along with the other settings in a natural way.
